Naples To Sorrento

Our time in Naples was rather short, but we had more to see on our whirlwind trip :) Vince and I packed our bags and set out to see a few more things before it was time to catch the ferry to Sorrento...

The Basilica di San Lorenzo Maggiore was right across the street

The oldest part of the Basilica

From there, we headed underground to see
the remenants of Medieval Naples (left from the Greeks)

Pretty cool!

An old oven

Statue just outside our B&B on the way to another church

Gorgeous

Time to board the ferry!

Our arrival in Sorrento

We left the harbour and cabbed it to
the hotel; our room had a stunning view!

The rooftop infinity pool (yes, that's Vesuvius)

With our check-in complete, Vince and I decided to take a walk around town before freshening up for dinner...

Carriages in the main piazza

Local produce stand- beautiful colors!

Time to get ready for dinner; we had reservations at Don Alfonso 1890- our first Michelin starred restaurant! We cleaned-up, caught a cab at the hotel lobby, and made the stunning journey up the winding hillside road to Sant'Agata...

Walking through the front gates of the property was like entering a dream

-As was peeping in the kitchen!

We were pleasantly escorted to the backyard garden for some
hors d'oeuvres, prosecco, and Sinatra playing in the background- wow

Just before our meal, we were treated to a tour
of the estate's centuries-old wine and cheese cellar

The restaurant interior

First of several courses from our tasting menu

Soft egg in cheese sauce with shaved truffles

Fillet

Gnocchi with red sauce

Pate, duck breast, and polenta

Our personal dessert- how sweet!

Our hosts were so gracious and welcoming- I can't compliment them enough. Although the restaurant was ridiculously fancy, they made us feel like part of their family. After discovering my passion for cooking, the owners gave us a personal tour of the kitchen and insisted we hang out with them in their (gorgeous) office for some limoncello before we could catch our cab back to the hotel. It was an evening we will never forget :)
