Pompeii

Sorrento was the perfect springboard for several day-trips in the area; our next stop after our day on Capri was Pompeii. Our tour bus picked us up from the hotel bright and early and off we went!

View leaving the city

Pompeii was impressive; the technology the Romans used when the city was vibrant was intelligent to say the least (minus the lead pipes). That said, it was a blisteringly hot day and we were pretty tired when we returned to Sorrento! We freshened up back at the hotel and walked around town before dinnertime...

One of the statues around Sorrento- just before a huge storm blew in

Vince and I had to run for shelter in the downpour; this was a good spot!

The rain eventually stopped and we made our way
to a restaurant near the city's smaller harbour for some seafood

Right on the water :)

Bruschetta

Octopus in tomato sauce

Fresh pasta with mushrooms & seafood

We finished our meal with a warm goodbye from the restaurant
owners and made our way back to our hotel; it was a beautiful evening :)
